All The Announcements From Disney + Marvel's Games Showcase at D23 Expo
All the titles announced at the very first Disney Marvel Games Showcase during the D23 Expo.
Disney hosted its first ever Games Showcase at D23 Expo this year, and there were plenty of announcements for fans of Disney, Marvel Games and more. The showcase held plenty of trailers, and reveals for new and upcoming games from Marvel Games, Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Studios.
The event was hosted by Kinda Funny Games' very own Blessing Adeoye Jr. and included plenty of gameplay demos and trailers. Here's everything that was announced during the 25-minute showcase:
Tron: Identity
From developer Bithell games comes a new instalment in the Tron franchise. In a new Grid, forgotten by its creator and left alone to evolve without User intervention, an unprecedented crime has been committed. TRON: Identity is a detective experience taking players to uncover the mystery of what was taken and by whom, set in a visual novel adventure.
Disney Illusion Island
In this Nintendo Switch exclusive, you'll join Mickey & Friends on a quest to save a mysterious world from disaster. Disney Illusion Island gives the chance to be part of a Mickey Cartoon!
In this cooperative adventure platformer, you'll get to play as Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. You'll have to navigate through hand drawn worlds, running, swimming and jumping in order to recover three magical books and save the world.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns New Gameplay and Release Date Announced
2K and Marvel Entertainment announced Marvel's Midnight Suns will launch on December 2 for Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The launch timing for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of the game will be shared at a later date. Along with this they also shared new gameplay which you can check out below.
MARVEL SNAP arrives in October
The card-based free to play title has a confirmed it will be launching worldwide on October 18th. You can pre-register to play which will kickstart your collection and unlock special variants. More info in the trailer below:
Aliens: Dark Descent
We also got a brief look at Aliens: Dark Descent which takes place during a Xenomorph outbreak. The squad-based RTS strategy game is currently scheduled for a release in 2023, here is the latest look at the game:
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
A short clip of the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was shown, the experience looks stunning but no new information was revealed at the event. The game is still in development with no release date announced, what we do know is the game is coming to PC and next-gen consoles.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – The Galactic Edition
A special edition of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is on the way with new character packs. If you already own the game you can also upgrade to the new character packs outlined below:
Return to Monkey Island Developer Update
During the D23 showcase, we also got an update around Return to Monkey Island from Dominic Armato, the voice of Guybrsh Threepwood. The game releases for the PC and Nintendo Switch on September 19th, 2022.
Disney’s Gargoyles Remastered
The 1995 Sega Genesis classic, Gargoyles is receiving it's very own remaster. Information is sparse at this point around what the remaster will contain, other than updated visuals.
The game is currently in development for PC and consoles with a release date to be announced at a later date.
Disney Mirrorverse New Villains
A fresh cast of villains are arriving to Disney Mirrorverse! This October Oogie Boogie, Ursula, Hades, Maleficient, Jafar, and more arrive in the mobile action RPG.
Disney Speedstorm
Get ready Pixar's Monsters Inc. fans, new tracks themed after the franchise are joining the racing fun, check out the trailer below:
Disney Dreamlight Valley - Toy Story Realm Reveal
Discover the brand-new Toy Story adventure, coming this fall in Dreamlight Valley, in which you can explore the Toy Story realm with Woody and Buzz. You can bring along all your Dreamlight pals to join in on the adventure as well.
If you are looking to tryout Disney Dreamlight Valley it is available now via Early Access on PC and consoles.
Avatar Reckoning a new mobile adventure
A new mobile game is coming based on the films to a smartphone new you!
Untitled Captain America and Black Panther Game from Marvel / Skydance
A new narrative driven game has been announced by Amy Hennig and Skydance Media, which will include both Captain America and Black Panther. The cinematic trailer revealed a few details about the game's setting presumably Paris, France and Wakanda, Africa.
Marvel: World of Heroes
Niantic labs and Marvel Games announced MARVEL World of Heroes an AR experience which is launching in 2023. You can create your own Super Hero and team-up with your favorite Marvel Heroes in real-world settings.
"In MARVEL World of Heroes, players can create their own unique Super Hero identity and origin story. Players will need to patrol their neighborhoods to foil crimes, complete Super Hero missions, and thwart interdimensional threats. As players level up, they will unlock equipment and abilities, and will team up with Marvel Super Heroes such as Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America and others to battle iconic Super Villains and save the Multiverse from cosmic and earthbound threats."
The game is set to launch globally in 2023, in the meantime here is the official trailer:
