Red Dead Redemption Rides onto PS4 and Nintendo Switch

The Western epic comes to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this summer.

Get ready to saddle up, the critically acclaimed Western epic, Red Dead Redemption, is making a return on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Originally released by Rockstar Games in 2010, the action-adventure is set to thrill a new generation of players on August 17th, 2023. Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare expansion pack will be released digitally on Nintendo Switch and PS4. A physical version will follow on the PS4 on October 13th, 2023. Let's dive into all the details:

A Story of the (Mostly) Untamed West

Set in the early 20th century, Red Dead Redemption lets you step into the boots of John Marston, a former outlaw seeking redemption. Marston's journey takes him through the rugged landscapes of the American West and Mexico, bringing his former gang members to justice in a narrative filled with unexpected twists and morally complex decisions.

Same adventure, new technical upgrades

The release of the game on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch introduces upgrades to visuals and performance. Witness breathtaking sunsets, engage with intricately designed wildlife, and encounter dynamic weather effects in upscaled resolution. There are also new lighting effects, textures, and extended draw distances on both platforms.

Outlaw on the run

Nintendo Switch players have the added advantage of experiencing the Western epic on the go. Whether you're commuting or relaxing at home, the Wild West is ready to roll when you are. Despite the platform's portability, there's no compromise on the quality of gameplay, thanks to Rockstar's expertise in optimizing games for various platforms.

Red Dead Online returns

The game's multiplayer mode, "Red Dead Online," is also heading to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. In this mode you can team up with friends for co-op missions, engage in exciting shootouts, or form your own outlaw gangs. This online component adds a fresh dimension to the game, letting you experience the Wild West with friends and make new allies (or rivals!) in a vast multiplayer sandbox.

Undead Nightmare DLC is included

Just in time for Halloween, the standalone expansion pack, "Undead Nightmare" will be included in the package. The add-on, available in both the Nintendo Switch and PS4, versions offers an adrenaline-pumping adventure. Marston finds himself in the midst of a zombie outbreak that's transforming the frontier's inhabitants into the walking dead. Your mission is to navigate this apocalyptic nightmare, armed with an array of new weapons—from trusty revolvers to explosive holy water—and face off against grotesque zombies and mythical creatures.

Undead Nightmare also introduces new locations and challenges, from saving towns from undead hordes to hunting down the four horses of the apocalypse. Even if you're new to the Wild West, you can dive straight into this chilling journey, thanks to the standalone nature of the expansion. So, whether you're a seasoned gunslinger or a novice rider, get ready to saddle up for an unforgettable experience as we eagerly count down to the release of Red Dead Redemption's "Undead Nightmare" on Nintendo Switch and PS4.
