Summer Game Fest 2023 – All the Announcements
The summer season of showcases and announcement kicked off with a bang at Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, all the details.
Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest 2023 launched the gaming announcement season with a bang, offering plenty of surprises. This year's festivities featured an array of exciting trailers and sneak peeks for highly anticipated titles such as Mortal Kombat 1, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Alan Wake 2, and Like A Dragon Gaiden. Fans were also treated to the hotly anticipated release date reveal for Spider-Man 2. The event introduced several new game announcements as well, including a new Prince of Persia installment and a new Sonic The Hedgehog adventure. Summer Game Fest truly delivered, here are all the announcements and trailers in one spot:
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown - Release Date: January 18th, 2024

Mortal Kombat 1 - Release Date: September 19th, 2023
Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boone joined Keighley on-stage to world premiere the very first look at MK 1's gameplay. Experience the origins of the iconic fighting game series in Mortal Kombat 1. Choose your fighter, master their unique abilities, and engage in brutal battles to prove your dominance in the ultimate test of skill and might.
Path of Exile 2 - Release Date: TBA
Delve into a dark and gritty world in Path of Exile 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular action RPG. Explore vast new lands, face powerful enemies, and customize your character with an expanded skill tree and intricate loot system. More will be shared around the July 28th, 2023.
Street Fighter 6 x Exoprimal - DLC Release Date: Coming Fall 2023
In this unexpected crossover, Street Fighter 6 x Exoprimal look to combine the intense combat of the Street Fighter franchise with the futuristic setting of Exoprimal. It looks like we will be battling through new stages. The game will also include robotic versions of Street Fighter characters Ryu and Guile which are looking stunning.

Creative Director at Remedy Games, Sam Lake took the stage to premiere Alan Wake 2 gameplay footage. The original 2010 release was a phenomenal psychological thriller that garnered a dedicated fan base. Over a decade later, I'm still eagerly awaiting the sequel, and based on what was shown at SGF, it appears to be shaping up wonderfully.
During Summer Game Fest, we were treated to a first look at gameplay, showcasing eerie and remarkably detailed visuals. A brief scene featured Saga Anderson, an FBI agent, exploring a deserted store, complete with spine-chilling jump scares that left viewers craving more. Lake confirmed you can switch back and forth between these characters in the game.
Set to launch this October, Alan Wake II promises to expertly blend action, adventure, and psychological horror elements. With its engaging storyline, enhanced controls, and immersive visuals, the game is poised to become a must-play for both fans of the original and newcomers alike.
