Xbox and Adidas Team Up to Celebrate 20 Years of Play

Microsoft and Adidas offer a first look at an exciting sneaker collab that will celebrate the history of the console.

Xbox has announced a very stylish partnership with Adidas to celebrate a console-inspired sneaker collaboration. This is the first in what looks to be a series of announcements with kicks that carry the likeness of different generations of Xbox consoles. I personally can’t wait to see what the Xbox 360 sneakers look like.

Celebrating 20 years of Xbox

The collab features an exclusive new adidas Originals by Xbox sneaker — the Xbox 20th Forum Tech — with translucent green details inspired by the special edition release of the original Xbox console for the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001.

Over the next few months Xbox + Adidas will continue to mark the 20th anniversary of Xbox by launching additional sneakers inspired by past and present console generations. This will also be the first time an Xbox inspired sneaker will be made available for purchase by fans later this year.

A debut trailer ripped straight from 2001

With the collab Xbox and Adidas have jointly released a “adidas Originals by Xbox – 20 Years of Play” trailer. The video celebrates the era of play most prevalent when the Xbox console launched in the early 2000s when skateboarding culture was most prevalent. Filmed and edited like a skate tape pulled straight from 2001, it follows a group of friends as they skate through their day in the Xbox 20th Forum Tech sneakers, pulling off tricks and playing some Halo: Combat Evolved on the original Xbox. Check out the full trailer below for some awesome retro Xbox feels:
