A dapper night as EB Games’ flagship store is transformed into a Bond-style soirée for the 007 First Light launch, join me to relive the event.

For one night, EB Games at 267 Yonge St. in Downtown Toronto looked less like a video game store and more like a classified MI6 rendezvous. To celebrate the launch of 007 First Light, the flagship location was transformed into a Bond-style soirée, complete with music, mocktinis, sharp suits, flowing gowns, and plenty of secret-agent swagger.

As someone who covers tech, gaming, and style through a dapper lens, I found the event to be a perfect fit for all things dappertux.com. It brought together the best parts of the Bond world: gadgets, glamour, gaming, and just the right amount of shaken-not-stirred charm.

EB Games, but Make It MI6

The event set the tone with a 007-inspired dress code. Guests clearly understood the assignment. There were tuxedos, gowns, polished shoes, sharp silhouettes, and enough black-tie energy to make Yonge Street feel like it had been temporarily reassigned to MI6.

One of the biggest highlights was the “Gun Barrel Sequence” photo-op, complete with a life-size statue of James Bond that closely resembled his real-life counterpart, Patrick Gibson. It was the kind of setup that instantly pulled you into the world of 007 First Light and made for a fantastic photo moment.

Between the live DJ, hors d’oeuvres, stylish crowd, and Bond-themed details, the whole space had a fun premiere-night feel.

It was sleek without taking itself too seriously, which is exactly the right balance for a modern Bond celebration.

Mocktinis, music, and mission-ready style

No Bond event is complete without something stylish in hand, and the mocktini bar delivered. The drink menu included the Vesper mocktini, Black Tie Citrus mocktini, and Royal Espresso mocktini, along with Coke Zero, Coca-Cola, and flavoured flat water.

Naturally, I went with the Royal Espresso mocktini, shaken, not stirred. It was excellent, and I could use the extra energy for a late-night session of 007 First Light.

Speaking of energy, the live DJ kept things moving throughout the night, giving the event a lounge-like atmosphere while fans checked out the game, picked up their copies, snapped photos, and mingled.

Getting hands-on with 007 First Light

Of course, the real star of the night was 007 First Light. Developed and published by IO Interactive, the game introduces a new chapter for James Bond by going back to the beginning. Rather than dropping players into the shoes of a fully formed legend, 007 First Light follows a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless Bond as he moves through MI6’s training program and begins the journey toward becoming 007.

Earn The Number

That origin-story angle is a smart hook. Bond is iconic, but this game lets players see him before the myth is fully formed, and you need to work to earn the 007 number. He still has the confidence, instinct, style, and nerve you expect, but there is also room for growth, mistakes, and discovery.

The game blends third-person action-adventure, stealth, gadgets, spycraft, and cinematic set pieces. That makes a lot of sense coming from IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series. Their experience with stealth, creative problem-solving, and stylish mission design feels like a strong match for the Bond universe.

A fresh chapter for James Bond games

What makes 007 First Light exciting is that it is not just another Bond tie-in. It feels like a full reintroduction to James Bond in gaming form. The focus on a younger Bond gives the game a fresh identity, while the mix of action, stealth, and globe-trotting espionage keeps it firmly connected to what I love about the franchise.

The event captured that same feeling. It was classic Bond in all the right ways: elegant, playful, and stylish.

At the same time, it felt modern and approachable, with fans stopping in to play the game, pick up copies, and become part of the launch-night energy.

Mission Complete: 007 First Light Launch

The 007 First Light launch event in Downtown Toronto was a fantastic way to celebrate a new chapter in the James Bond franchise. EB Games became a stylish MI6-adjacent headquarters for the night, complete with live music, hors d’oeuvres, Bond-inspired mocktinis, photo ops, demo stations, and a crowd to match the spectacle. For a game about the making of James Bond, the event understood the mission perfectly. It brought together gaming, fashion, tech, and pop-culture spectacle in a way that felt right at home.

Mission status: stylishly accomplished.
