Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Comic Announced for Free Comic Book Day

A prequel comic book is on the way to fill in the gaps after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales to help set the stage for Spider-Man 2.

As a huge fan of Spider-Man, I was ecstatic to hear that a prequel comic was on the way for Free Comic Book Day. Developer Insomniac Games and Marvel are collaborating to fill in some blanks around the games with an exclusive comic. The story will serve as a bridge between the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and give us an insight into the lives of Peter Parker, Miles Morales and MJ Watson, you can check out the digital comic here.

According to Jon Paquette, the narrative director at Insomniac Games, the team explored several ideas for the comic, but they ultimately settled on the premise of the three protagonists teaming up against a new Super Villain. The comic will also explore the theme of magic and whether it’s real, as the Super Villain in question appears to have supernatural abilities that defy mere webs and fists. I can’t wait to see how this plays out in the comic!

The comic will be written by Christos Gage, who also worked on Marvel’s Spider-Man, and illustrated by Ig Guara. Fans in the US can get their hands on the comic by visiting a participating comic book store or downloading it digitally on the Marvel Unlimited app or Marvel.com starting on May 6th. The digital version will be available worldwide through the Marvel Unlimited app at a later date.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered becomes standalone title on the PlayStation Store

Insomniac also announced a standalone release of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PS5 console, which was previously only available as part of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition. For those who already own the original Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 console, there will be an upgrade program available for $10 (USD) to upgrade to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on the PS5. Alternatively, the remastered version can be purchased for $49.99 (USD) on the PlayStation Store.

Spider-Man 2 Announcement Imminent?

Overall, as a fan of the game, I am thrilled with all the exciting news coming out from Insomniac Games. The prequel comic and the standalone release of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered have me eagerly anticipating the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 this fall. As more of these smaller announcements trickle out, I'm sure there's a big announcement coming in the near future around Spider-Man on PS5.
