MLB The Show 22 Cover Athlete Revealed

After bringing the digital diamond to Xbox last year, The Show welcomes Shohei Ohtani and Nintendo Switch players in 2022.

Shohei Ohtani of the LA Angels will grace the cover of MLB The Show 22. The MVP and unanimous selection for the American League MVP is coming off a record breaking season. Ohtani hit 46 home runs, netted 100 RBIs, stole 23 bases while having a 9-2 record on the mound with a 3.18 ERA and 156 strikeouts. He is fast becoming the face of Major League Baseball, and is one of the most prolific talents the game has seen in decades.

MLB The Show 22 hits a grand slam


For the second season in a row, MLB The Show is branching out to another platform and providing more ways to play. The upcoming release of The Show 22 will take the field for the first time ever on the Nintendo Switch. This also marks the first time the game will hit a grad slam arriving on all 3 current gen home consoles at once. You can hit the diamond on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X platforms. This exciting development will also see the storied franchise welcome even more gamers and add cross play so everyone can play together.

Training camp opens in early April


MLB The Show 22 launches on April 5th, 2022. The Standard Edition on last gen consoles is $59.99 USD/$79.99 CAD. The Standard Edition on current gen consoles is $59.99 USD/$89.99 CAD. For Nintendo Switch, the Standard Edition is $59.99 USD/$79.99 CAD. The Show 22 will also arrive "Day 1" for Xbox Game Pass subscribers on April 5th.

Cross-platform baseball


MLB The Show 22 enables Nintendo gamers to join in with Xbox and PlayStation owners to compete against each other. Cross progression also allows you to access any earned content across platform or generation (except PS5 and Xbox Series X|S unique features like Stadium Creator). Cross saves allow you to transfer a save file for Road to the Show or Franchise mode to a different console.

  • Create and use multiple Ballplayers, beyond your Road to the Show personalized Baseball RPG experience, and customize your Ballplayers exactly how you want to aid in your progression.

  • Face your friends with cross-platform play. With cross progression, continue your progress and earn and use content on other console platforms.

  • Tailor your experience with gameplay styles and two new difficulty settings to help you get the hang of the basics.

  • Play March to October in your style, with updated mode tools to utilize custom uniforms, logos, and created stadiums.

  • Live out your dream Baseball matchups with new Legends joining the diamond.

  • Seamless performance: lose yourself in the moment with smooth, targeted 60fps gameplay.

On February 2 Sony San Diego Studios has promised more information is forth coming with the Collector’s Edition that includes dual entitlement.
