PlayStation State of Play January 2024 Recap
First State of Play of 2024 featured 16 games including Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Stellar Blade, Until Dawn Remaster, Silent Hill 2 Remake and other surprises.
PlayStation kicked off the new year with a bang, showcasing a variety of upcoming games for PS5 and PS VR2 in their first State of Play of 2024. Here are all the announcements, trailers and release dates shared from the 40-minute presentation:
Helldivers 2
Release Date: February 8, 2024
The sequel to the popular co-op shooter pits players against alien invaders. The game features new weapons, enemies, environments, and missions, as well as cross-play support. Get ready to jump!
Stellar Blade arrives only on PS5 April 26
Release Date: April 26th, 2024
Save humanity from extinction in this story-driven action adventure game coming this spring.
Sega reveals Sonic x Shadow Generations
Release Date: Autumn 2024
Sonic’s latest adventure is a crossover between two of Sega’s iconic characters, the blue blur and Shadow the Hedgehog. The game combines elements from both franchises, such as speed, platforming, and chaos powers.
Zenless Zone Zero is coming to PS5
Release Date: TBD
The surreal action game takes place in a mysterious urban world where nothing makes sense. The game challenges players to solve puzzles and uncover secrets. Zenless Zone Zero is coming to PS5, with a release date to be announced.
Silent Hill: The Short Message
Release Date: Out Now
The free interactive experience serves as a teaser for the upcoming modern Silent Hill experience. The game lets players explore a creepy apartment and receive text messages from an unknown sender. Silent Hill: The Short Message is available now for free on PS5.
Silent Hill 2 Gameplay Reveal
Release Date: TBD
The long-awaited first look at gameplay from the legendary horror franchise mainstay Silent Hill 2 is here. The game promises to deliver a terrifying and immersive experience that will bring players new and old back to the terrifying world of Silent Hill.
Foamstars Season 1 content details
Release Date: Base Game February 6, 2024
During the State of Play Square Enix offered a sneak peek of the upcoming season 1 content with a new trailer. The game will offer not only ranked matches and special events, but also new characters, maps and modes that will be rolled out throughout the year. Players will also be able to customize their appearance with various cosmetic items. Foamstars’ base game launches on February 6, 2024, with Season 1 content details revealed:
Dave the Diver will launch on PS5 and PS4 this April
Godzilla DLC: Free this May
The charming and humorous platformer follows the adventures of Dave, a scuba diver who explores the underwater world. The game features colorful graphics, quirky characters, and fun gameplay. Dave the Diver will launch on PS5 and PS4 this April, with a free Godzilla DLC coming this May.
V Rising is coming to PlayStation 5
Release Date: Coming 2024
The vampire-themed open-world RPG lets players create their own bloodsucking legacy building castles, growing their influence and more. The game features a dynamic day-night cycle, a variety of activities, and rich lore. V Rising is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2024.
New Judas story trailer

We got our latest look at “Judas” the upcoming videogame by Ken Levine, the creator of BioShock and System Shock. The first-person shooter set in a sci-fi dystopia where machines control everything aboard a city floating through space called “The Mayflower.” Humans are forced to be model citizens and singled out for deviant behaviour. You play as Judas, a rebel who sparks a revolution against the oppressive system.
Metro Awakening coming to PS VR2
Release Date: Coming 2024
We got our very first look at Metro Awakening a fully VR experience where you play as Serdar, a doctor who searches for his wife in the post-nuclear Moscow Metro. You will explore, sneak and fight in a dark and dangerous world. The game uses the PlayStation 5, PS VR2 and Dual Sense features to give you a ultra-immersive VR experience.
Legendary Tales
Release Date: February 8th, 2024
If you are looking for a fantasy action VR game Legendary Tales could be the adventure you are looking for. The game lets players create their own hero and embark on an epic medieval journey. Not only does it have a wild, dynamic combat system, but a branching story, and a co-op mode.
Dragon’s Dogma 2
Release Date: March 22nd, 2024
The State of Play gave us our latest look at the sequel to the cult classic action RPG. The trailer showed off a large open world, massive enemies and a deeper look at combat.
Rise of the Ronin
Release Date: March 22nd, 2024
The samurai-themed action game follows the journey of a lone warrior. The game features a realistic and brutal combat system, a unique setting with Eastern and Western influences, and a compelling story.
Until Dawn Remastered
Release Date: TBD 2024
Sony announced enhanced version of the popular horror game that puts players in the shoes of a group of friends who are trapped in a remote mountain lodge with a killer on the loose. The game features upgraded graphics, sound, and other new features. The Unit Dawn remaster is expected to arrive in 2024.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Release Date: 2025
The sequel to the award-winning Death Standing by Hideo Kojima explores the themes of life, death, and connection. The latest trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach showed new plenty of story details, characters, along with bizarre and surreal scenes that are typical of Kojima’s style. Some of the highlights of the trailer include a stop-motion puppet companion that will join you, a robo-samurai villain and stunning dystopian vistas that look to dwarf the orginal. The trailer raised many questions about the plot and the gameplay of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, but it was a stunning look at the hotly anticipated sequel.
PHYSINT
Release Date: TBD
To close the show Hideo Kojima was joined by Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst to announce at special joint project, “Physint.” This is the working title of a new action espionage game from Kojima Productions, The collaboration between Kojima and PlayStation Studios is “a next-generation action espionage game” that looks to blur the line between video game and film.
