Summer Game Fest 2026 was the best yet, packed with huge reveals, blockbuster sequels, and must-see trailers for reveals this year and beyond.
After PlayStation’s State of Play signalled the unofficial start of June gaming announcement season, Summer Game Fest 2026 took the spotlight with a packed showcase full of horror revivals, blockbuster sequels, bold new IP, long-awaited remasters, and plenty of big surprises.
Hosted live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, this year’s Summer Game Fest felt like a reminder of why June remains one of the most exciting times on the gaming calendar. Between Capcom opening the show with a survival horror favourite, Square Enix closing with the final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, and surprises from Sega, Ubisoft, Remedy, Bandai Namco, Studio MDHR, PlatinumGames, and more, the event delivered a strong look at what is coming in 2026, 2027, and beyond.

Resident Evil Veronica

Mighty Cuphead Adventure

Studio MDHR announced Mighty Cuphead Adventure, an 8-bit inspired Cuphead spin-off, alongside confirmation that a new hand-animated mainline Cuphead game is also in development.
Alien: Isolation 2

Blood Message

NetEase and 24 Entertainment revealed Blood Message, a cinematic third-person action-adventure set during the late Tang dynasty. It looks story-heavy, dramatic, and visually striking I can’t wait to get my hands on it, but it still doesn’t have a firm release date.
Stranger Than Heaven

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio returned with a new look at Stranger Than Heaven, its ambitious period action-adventure previously known as Project Century. The trailer leaned into multiple eras, stylish combat, and a surprising and controversial reveal of hip-hop legend Tupac as a character in the game.
Haex

Haex is a surreal open-world co-op survival shooter from Dead Astronauts, a new studio formed by developers with experience on The Division and Little Nightmares. Its strange sci-fi environments and mysterious cube immediately made it stand out, I’m interested to learn more.
Dead by Daylight — “Don’t Blink”

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

Remedy’s Control Resonant returned with a closer look at Dylan Faden, supernatural Manhattan, and a more melee-focused action direction. Look out for this one in the Fall; it looks like it’s shaping up to be something quite special like its predecessor.
Guild Wars 3

ArenaNet officially revealed Guild Wars 3, bringing the MMO franchise to console for the first time. The announcement positions it as a modern evolution of the series with a beta planned for Fall 2027.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer

Virtua Fighter Crossroads

Shift Up revealed Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, a follow-up that shifts the series into a rain-soaked city setting with a darker tone and more aggressive combat style. It was one of the most visually impressive first looks at a game this entire week.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Square Enix closed the show with a megaton announcement: Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the final chapter of the Remake trilogy. The reveal showed the Highwind, playable Cid and Vincent, expanded exploration, and a simultaneous multiplatform release.
Final thoughts on Summer Game Fest 2026
Summer Game Fest 2026 was one of those showcases that kept building momentum as it went, and it was the best showing yet. It started with a massive survival-horror reveal in Resident Evil: Veronica, moved through long-awaited comebacks like Alien: Isolation 2, Virtua Fighter Crossroads, and The Wolf Among Us 2, and closed with an extended look at the hotly anticipated Final Fantasy VII: Revelation.
What stood out most was the variety.
There were massive AAA sequels, remakes, expansions, fighting games, strategy games, anime adaptations, racing titles, MMOs, indie surprises, and major licensed projects all sharing the same stage. Even better, many of the biggest announcements came with actual release windows, giving plenty to look forward to across the rest of 2026 and into 2027.
